When designing the settings section for the HitBliss desktop app, I focused on optimizing the user experience for navigation with a TV remote control. Given that the TV remote is restricted to just four actions: up, down, left, and right-creating an intuitive and efficient interface was paramount. One of the key design elements I implemented was a horizontal scrolling component, which proved to be highly effective when users needed to link their accounts. With the remote's limited functionality, this design allowed users to easily navigate through their options by simply pressing the left or right arrow keys. This approach not only streamlined the process but also minimized confusion and reduced the potential for error. By narrowing the user's choices to just two directional options, the design leveraged the simplicity of the remote to enhance usability. This resulted in a more straightforward and user-friendly experience, allowing users to complete their tasks with minimal guesswork. Ultimately, this design strategy underscored the importance of adapting to the constraints of the input device while still delivering a seamless and efficient user interface.
