Easy Reporting
In just 30 days, I was tasked with creating a prototype for a Project Manager who was pitching a groundbreaking business venture to Nielsen's CEO. The stakes? Millions in potential funding. No pressure, right? The concept was revolutionary: an industry-first retail measurement report marketplace specifically designed for consumer packaged goods (CPG). This platform aimed to streamline retail data access for small businesses, transforming a complex and time-consuming process into one that was effortless and efficient. The platform would enable users to build, purchase, and instantly download comprehensive data reports with just a few clicks.
This innovative solution was designed with the ultimate goal of empowering small businesses, providing them with the tools and insights needed to stay informed and agile in a competitive market. By simplifying access to critical retail data, the platform would help small businesses make smarter, data-driven decisions, ultimately driving their growth and success. The challenge of bringing this concept to life in such a short timeframe was immense. It required a deep understanding of the CPG industry, an intuitive design that catered to the needs of small businesses, and a robust backend capable of handling large volumes of data efficiently. Despite the pressure, the tight deadline fueled our creativity and determination, pushing us to innovate and deliver a high-quality prototype that exceeded expectations.
Below are the taskflow and user flow that I created before wireframes.
Juggling late nights and weekends, it is a big job for a single person to tackle. This is a very ambitious 30-day project. Below, you’ll find a comprehensive list of all the deliverables I had to create.
- Mood boards (4 total)
- A brand identity (including character design)
- Introduce the design process to a new group
- User flows (for 2 personas)
- Toolkit (colors, fonts, style, patterns, grid layout, global elements
- lo fi wireframes prototype (2 prototypes for 2 personas)
- hi fi wireframes prototype (2 prototypes for 2 personas)
- Hero illustrations (5 total) from rough sketch, to draft and then final illustration
- Spot illustrations (over 20+ images created)
- Iconography
So was the pitch successful?
In the end, the effort paid off. The prototype not only impressed the CEO but also secured the potential millions in funding, marking a significant milestone for myself. This experience reinforced the importance of perseverance, collaboration, and the power of a well-executed vision in turning ambitious ideas into reality. Within a year, the company was up and running. As evident from the current screen below, the style has evolved significantly, but it all began with my initial prototype.
